We have completed production and installation of landscaping elements with a visual projection alert system for the regional shopping center

In the third quarter of 2024, we won tenders for unique projects: production and installation of a light canopy on the central square of a large city park and decoration of the front façade of a super-regional shopping center.

Our work process

In this project, we focused on gathering partner’s requirements and analyzing the operating experience of existing landscaping elements. We compiled archival designs, assessed the compliance of the working documentation with building codes, and compared the actual placement of the landscaping elements to requirements in that documentation. We carried out technical evaluation of the parameters of our partner’s existing equipment and examined the reasoning behind the equipment choices. We also conducted surveys among maintenance companies and analyzed the structure of operating costs for maintaining the existing landscaping elements as well as their periodic repairs and updates.

High-quality requirement gathering in project management accounts for a large part of the overall success. Insufficient attention to this fundamental process can lead to critical problems: missed deadlines, increased costs, and reduced quality. In this project, after collecting requirements, we obtained the following initial data:

• high operating costs: to change installations for different seasons, our partner had to fully dismantle and reassemble the canopy, which required machinery, work at heights, transportation, and organizing seasonal storage. This also involved additional damage to the elements due to frequent assembly and disassembly.
• violations of documentation and standard requirements during manufacturing and installation, causing accelerated wear, damage, and corrosion of key components, which in turn threatened safe operation.
• poor equipment selection, involving obsolete lighting solutions and choosing a foreign supplier with inflated procurement costs. As a result, spare parts were unavailable or difficult to obtain, rendering replacement and repair impossible and ultimately rendering the costly project unusable—a direct loss for our partner.

Next, we launched the standard project implementation cycle according to our internal guiding documents. The key milestones included:

• developing design documentation for a fully customized solution, including additional components that eliminated all negative aspects identified from previous operating experience.
• drafting working documentation for the installation and commissioning of all landscaping elements, taking into account current constraints and the facility’s operating mode.
• carrying out high-quality, in-depth cost engineering, selecting the best equipment and materials according to the price-to-quality criterion, with consideration for localization, availability, and guarantees for long-term, efficient operation.
• completing construction, installation, and commissioning work.

More than 4 kilometers of light garlands manually installed at a height of over 10 meters, over 6 kilometers of curtain garlands, and 19 visual alert projectors covering more than 1,500 square meters of the facade.

Benefits for our partner

Within a short time frame and on a limited budget, we helped our partner implement a pilot project for a new building and surrounding area visual design concept. This solution will significantly reduce annual holiday decoration operating costs, increase foot traffic and sales, and thereby boost the overall commercial efficiency of the property.

Take a look at how it was!
